An ear stack looks effortless and is not. Knowing how to build an ear stack means getting three unglamorous things right before you think about a single design: gauge, post length and hoop diameter. Get those wrong and even beautiful jewelry sits badly.

Step one: know your placements

Step four: pick one metal and stay with it

Step five: build the composition
