A House of Balance review has to start with the one thing this brand does differently from almost every other body care line: it puts a time of day on the bottle. Products are labelled 4PM or 10PM, and that clock is the organising idea behind the whole range.
House of Balance is a Korean-formulated body care brand selling body washes, scrubs, butters, mists, oil serums, herbal deodorants and a gua sha tool. Its tagline is simply "Live in Balance," and its Instagram describes it as a house for women living, creating and expressing from their own authority. That is positioning, not proof. So here is what the products actually claim, where the range is genuinely strong, and where you should keep your expectations sensible.
What House of Balance actually sells
The catalogue is narrower than it first looks, which is a good sign. Rather than a hundred SKUs, there are roughly six product families, each with two or three variants.
- Body wash - the 04:00PM and 10:00PM Mind and Body Wash, plus a duo set of both.
- Exfoliation and moisture - the Black Bean Pod 4PM Body Scrub and the Souffle 4PM Body Butter, sold separately or as a duo.
- Mists - Soil Relief 4PM and Orange Sleep 10PM Balance Body Mist, plus a set.
- Slow aging - Body Slow Oil Serum, Eye Slow Oil Roller and the Dojagi Gua Sha, sold individually and in sets.
- Herbal deodorant - New Day, Active and Glow, plus an All Day Ritual trio.
- Seasonal - the Sorbet 10PM Body Cream, listed as a pre-order shipping from August 28.
That tight structure is the brand's biggest practical advantage. You can build a full routine from four products without decoding a catalogue.
The 4PM and 10PM system, explained

Here is the part that confuses first-time buyers. 4PM and 10PM are scent-and-mood codes, not instructions you have to obey.
The 4PM products are built around patchouli - deep, earthy, grounding. The 10PM products use neroli, a fresh citrus note. Both body washes carry the same core claim: House of Balance says they boost moisture levels by up to 1,024x with Korean seaweed extract, and both are sulfate-free, paraben-free and cruelty-free.
The same split runs through the mists. Soil Relief 4PM is infused with patchouli essential oil; Orange Sleep 10PM uses neroli. Both use what the brand calls a golden 2:8 oil-to-water ratio and are alcohol-free, which is why the label says they are safe on the neck, chest and even hair.
Is the time-of-day framing marketing? Partly, yes. But it solves a real problem, which is that scent layering across a routine usually turns into a mess. Pick a lane, buy the wash and the mist in the same code, and everything smells intentional. The strongest House of Balance products
The scrub and butter, in sequence

Two products carry the brand, and they happen to be the two sold together as the Body Scrub and Butter Duo.
The Black Bean Pod 4PM Body Scrub exfoliates with natural Korean black bean pod particles. House of Balance says it removes up to 92% of dead skin cells after a single use and helps visibly reduce the look of strawberry skin. The instruction that matters, and the one people skip, is on the label: use it on dry skin before showering.
The Souffle 4PM Body Butter is the follow-up. The brand quotes 4.9x deeper hydration and a 4.3x improvement in skin density and elasticity, powered by Red Snow, a patented antioxidant extracted from Korean camellia. The whipped texture is the selling point for anyone who finds conventional body butters heavy.
Buying them as the duo makes sense because the scrub is the step that makes the butter work. Exfoliate, then hydrate - the same argument we made in our body butter bar and sugar scrub guide.

The herbal deodorants are the sleeper hit

Herbal deodorant is a crowded, disappointing category, so it is worth saying that this is the part of the range with the most specific claims.
All three roll-ons share the same headline: elimination of 99% of odor-causing bacteria. Where they differ is the secondary job each one does.
- New Day - bergamot oil, positioned for fresh, balanced all-season protection. Free of aluminum, parabens and phthalates, and described as helping reduce the appearance of underarm hyperpigmentation.
- Active - fresh mint, made for sweat and movement. Infused with peppermint oil, and the brand claims it instantly cools skin by 23.2F on application.
- Glow - fragrance-free and powered by 5% niacinamide for brightening and wrinkle care. House of Balance describes it as clinically non-irritating with a 0.00 irritation index.
Glow is the interesting one. Treating the underarm as skin that deserves an active ingredient rather than a cover-up is a genuinely different pitch, and the fragrance-free formula makes it the obvious pick if scented deodorant has bothered you before.
Slow aging: honest expectations
The Slow Aging line is where a review has to be careful, because retinol on the body is a real active with real limits.
The Body Slow Oil Serum combines retinol with vegan squalane, Korean seaweed extract and lavender oil. The brand's language is consistently about appearance - visibly smoothing the look of cellulite, refining uneven texture, leaving skin looking firmer. That is the correct way to phrase it, and you should read it exactly that way.
The Eye Slow Oil Roller pairs retinol with Volufiline and vegan squalane, and the brand frames it as plumping rather than concealing. The Dojagi Gua Sha completes the set as the manual tool for massage and circulation.
Two practical warnings that apply to any retinol product, not just this one. Introduce it slowly rather than nightly from day one, and be sensible about sun exposure on treated areas. If you prefer to avoid retinol entirely, our roundup of vegan and cruelty-free skincare brands has gentler routes.
Who this brand is not for
Three honest caveats.
First, if you want a fragrance-free routine top to bottom, only the Glow deodorant fits. Scent is central to how this range is designed, and patchouli in particular is polarising.
Second, if you want facial skincare, this is not that brand. Apart from the eye roller, everything here is body care. Treat it as a shower-and-after-shower system, not a full regimen.
Third, the range leans on percentage claims - 92%, 99%, 1,024x, 4.9x, 4.3x. Those are the brand's own figures. They are specific enough to be credible as internal testing results, but they are not independent verification, and no honest review should present them as such.
The verdict

House of Balance is a well-edited Korean body care line with a genuinely useful organising idea and one standout category most people would not expect - the deodorants.
Start with the Body Scrub and Butter Duo if you want the clearest before-and-after. Start with the Glow deodorant if underarm skin is your actual concern. Start with a wash-and-mist pair in a single time code if you mostly care about how you smell at the end of a long day. The Slow Aging Set, packaged in its signature house-shaped box, is the gift buy rather than the starter buy.

House of Balance FAQ
What is the difference between 4PM and 10PM?
They are scent codes. 4PM products are built on patchouli, 10PM products on neroli. The formulas within a product family - the two body washes, for instance - share the same core claims and differ mainly in fragrance.
Are the deodorants aluminum-free?
The New Day herbal deodorant is described as free of aluminum, parabens and phthalates. All three roll-ons are marketed as herbal deodorants rather than antiperspirants, so they target odor rather than sweat itself.
Which product should a first-time buyer choose?
The Body Scrub and Butter Duo. It is the pairing where the two products are designed to work in sequence, and it gives you the fastest read on whether the textures and the 4PM scent suit you before you commit to the rest of the range.
